3rd place finish at the Shell Eco-Marathon

The Shell Eco-marathon America’s is over, and the results are in. This year the UBC Supermilage team achieved a fuel efficiency of 288mpg, a 74mpg improvement over our last competition and enough to place us in 3rd place for gasoline Urban Concepts and 4th place out of all Urban Concepts (this includes hydrogen, solar and electric vehicles). We are very happy with this result, but this success only makes us hungry for more. There is some room for improvement, and next year we will aim even higher in our pursuit of efficiency.

Thank you again to our many generous sponsors who’s support has been instrumental in our success, and without whom we would not even have a vehicle for competition.

The Argo Has Landed in Houston

As Competition Draws Near

We would like to thank AirCare for their continuing support of our team. The Argo is being shipped to Texas in preparation for the Shell Eco Marathon Americas in only two weeks, a competition we are able to compete in thanks to the contributions from AirCare and all our other sponsors.

We are now very close to completing our urban concept vehicle for competition, and as such we would like to take this opportunity to recognize several organizations, whose sponsorship have been instrumental to our continued success.

The mechanical engineering department of UBC has supported our team since its inception, providing us with work-space and technical and financial resources.

UBC has also sponsored us through the Professional Activities Fund and the Walter Gage Fund. We too would like to thank Shell Canada Ltd for providing additional financial support through the Shell Engineering Student Fund.

New Software Sponsorships

The UBC Supermileage Team is excited to announce two new software sponsors this year! The team is looking forward to using Dassault Systemes SolidWorks to design vehicle modifications, and to improving our body design using the Star-CCM+ software graciously provided by CD-adapco. Both programs will help us in our quest to make the Argo even more efficient as we shoot for gold at the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas this year. Thanks so much for your support!
